Last Weekend

Despite the cold weather last Saturday, which I'm sure kept a number of members at home, we still had a good turnout for the first General Membership Meeting.

One of the highlights of the meeting (which I am very pleased to share) is that we have a surge in membership this year. Actually it started at the end of last year with Steve and Tommy Bernard and Dwight Thomas joining. This spring we have already welcomed four more new members, and expect a couple more. See below for details.

We also held the Commodore's Cup race on Saturday afternoon. It was a challenging race, with a shiftier-than-normal 10-20 knot winds from the NW. Coupled with the cold weather it felt more like the Die Hard!

Congratulations to Mike & Kathy on Sonshine who took first place, followed by Gale Force, and then Inside the Wind coming in 3rd.

The Commodore's Champagne Reception was held after the race. It wasn't patio weather, so around 20 members and guests gathered inside the clubhouse and celebrated the start of the Season with bubbly and appetizers. Thanks to everyone who attended.

Thankfully the Memorial Day Weekend is looking like it will be warmer.

See you on the water!

Alan Jordan, Commodore

Around the Club

Daisy the D-Dock Duck

I know you've been waiting for news on Daisy, but we don't have any updates from last weekend.

Who knows what Mike and Sylvana will find when they arrive this coming weekend! Will they be proud god-parents, or will Daisy still be sitting on her eggs?

If you have news to share for future newsletters please email me!

Member News

As mentioned above we already have several new members this year. Welcome to the Club:

Darcy & Martin Aschenbrener, Zephyr, A-Dock

Peggy Thomas ??, A-Dock

Shari Poplinski Popeye, E-Dock

We are so glad you have joined us! Everyone, please make them feel welcome.

We will ask these new members to tell us about themselves in future newsletters.

As reported in an earlier newsletter, Bill and Kristi Fliehr have rejoined the club, and we expect to sign up two new (and not-so-new) members on D-Dock soon!

Volunteers Needed

Sandy is looking for someone to assist on the membership committee.

Amy is looking for assistance/backup with race communications.

If you can help out in either of these areas please email Sandy, or email Amy.

At the meeting last weekend, Social Chair Andrea outlined a number of new events that are added to the Calendar (in addition to events already scheduled):

July 2: Potluck style BBQ, Band & Beach Fire (maybe fireworks too!)

August 6: Sundowner Karaoke

We will share the full calendar with these updates next week.
