Well, the Memorial Weekend was nice and warm. A bit of rain in the morning wasn't too much of an issue. But the wind!
Having been struck down by Covid, I wasn't able to be there, which was a real bummer. Instead, I was stuck at home in Rochester, isolated from the world and catching up with chores around the house, while watching the trees in my backyard attempt to take flight!
I hear that both Saturday and Sunday the wind was consistently above 20 knots, with gusts of 25 to 30 or more! Only a brave few boats ventured out of the marina. Others went hiking at Maiden Rock.
I am mostly recovered and should be at the marina this coming weekend.
Alan Jordan, Commodore
Around the Club
Bloomies ventured out on both Saturday and Sunday, with grandchildren Zoey and Maxwell enjoying the sailing and fishing. Also, Alex and Sam were guests on board. Sam, as you might know, has been going through a grueling round of chemo at Mayo Clinic. I'm sure it was a welcome change to enjoy a day on the water. They were on the right boat for the windy conditions!
Zoey and Maxwell even caught some fish for the family fish fry on Memorial Day!
The German Invasion
Sandy Shipp brought a visitor, Lennart, to the club. He is visiting from Germany and had just ridden his bike from Chicago to Minneapolis, where he is staying at her airbnb. He was a great first mate on Firefly, and apparently now has sailing fever!
At the beginning of the season Dan bought Mango Key from Phil and Krista, who have moved down to San Diego.
He took her for a shakedown cruise on Sunday with Mike, Silvana and a friend from the Cities. Apparently " It was a reasonable start, but got pretty sporty with gusts over 35 testing the crew."
Dan is not yet a member, but we are working on him!
Daisy the D-Dock Duck
It's getting close! The word on the street is that Daisy's eggs might hatch by the weekend. Hopefully, Mike and Silvana can get some photos before mama herds them overboard and they swim off. They will probably hang around the marina though, so keep a lookout for them.

Welcome back to the club Jerry Olson!
We knew you would miss us too much. It's great to have you back.

River Time Grand Opening
By all accounts, the Grand Opening of River Time was a blast! There was a steady stream of Yacht club members and marina folk heading up the hill on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
